Associate corresponding HDMI audio to each monitor by window

Spread the love

I have a laptop with Ubuntu 20.04 which has an HDMI output and I am using this port to extend my desktop using a second monitor (which happens to be a TV with HDMI input)
As you understood, both, the laptop and TV, have builtin audio output.
The problem I have is that, since I chose to use the monitor as a “desktop extend” I would like that a window’s audio I have in the laptop got reproduced with speakers in the laptop, and the audio of the windows I have open in the TV got reproduced with the TV speakers.
As of now I am able only to change settings so that all audios get reproduced in the laptop or all the audio gets reproduced in the TV.
Is it possible to associate each audio output to the speaker based on where the window is opened?
