How much space should I allocate for Ubuntu on a persistent flash drive?

I’ve already made a persistent flah drive and it works just fine. I’ve allocated 13.8GB for the Ubuntu operating system and I’ve allocated 16GB to persistent storage. It’s working fine right now, but I’m worried that itwon’t be enough later down the road when updating the system.
