Hi, I have a EC2 instance in AWS and it has Debian 10. I have a need to add a secondary private IP to it. I can do it as follows, but it will not be permanent: 1. Add a secondary IP to the instance in the AWS web console 2. Add the IP to Linux: sudo ip address add 172.30.4.32/20 dev ens5 3. Now the instance has a secondary IP address and it can be associated with a second Elastic IP. So everything works fine, but that is only temporary, if the server reboots or is stopped and started from AWS console the IP has to be assigned again with the command in the 2nd step above. How to make the IP permanent? I have “automated” the IP address adding with a crontab and a script using (at)reboot. So during reboot it runs a .sh file where is the same “ip address add” command. That works, but does not work if the server is tarted and stopped from the AWS console. submitted by /u/SusLaw [link] [comments]
