I am fairly new to Ubuntu, so please bear with me.
My job requires me to train machine learning models on a daily basis using my GPU. I am 100% sure now that I am suffering from heat throttling. My laptop super heats and the performance gets 4x slower. Same happens with demanding videogames.
Searching the web I came across this solutions that apparently helps saving battery by switching from Nvidia to Intel when the former is idle. However, this post states that this solutions would not be capable of re-activating my Nvidia on-demand. Is that true?
But anyway, besides battery life I am more interested in keeping performance while not setting on fire my laptop. It might be relevant to note that I am always with my battery plugged, meaning that more power is available (and maybe this is why it overheats always)
I have read several times about bumblebee, but I don’t know if it would help me and how.
Fundamentally, my priorities from higher to lower are
Avoid thermal throttling while using GPU
Increase battery life
