Ubuntu 18.04 crashes on login screen

Spread the love

When I started my computer, it would boot normally up to about this point. It would end on a different line every time. Then, it would start flashing black, and stop. I could still access tty.
Boot screen stopped around here, “Started Daily apt download activities” this time.
I tried reinstalling lightdm and using that. I could get to the login page, but it would just take me back to the login. I tried adding “nomodeset” to the boot, which didn’t help. Then I tried amdgpu-pro-uninstall which didn’t get it working. After removing “nomodeset” and updating grub, I have finally managed to get to the login screen, where it freezes.
