Everything was working fine until today. I tried to boot my laptop and got stuck. Alt+Enter shows the following:
PCIe Bus Error (1)
PCIe Bus Error (2)
and it hangs here. If I switch to lightdm then I can boot normally, but Wi-Fi doesn’t work (doesn’t see any networks). Anyway, lightdm seems like a workaround, so I want to fix gdm3. What I’ve tried:
Re-install gdm3. After that I can manually start the service with sudo systemctl start gdm3, switch to it with sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm3. Unfortunately, after reboot I’m still facing the same issue
Add pci=nomsi before booting. This hangs the system even earlier (Alt+Enter does nothing)
Add pci=noaer before booting. This gets rid (or just hides?) of the PCIe bus error, but it hangs at the exact same place (gdm.service)
What puzzles me the most is that it was working yesterday without any problems. Not sure if this is helpful, but I tried to boot to Ubuntu 20.04 USB image and it worked. Gdm3 service was running, Wi-Fi works as well.
Let me know if any additional info is needed.
