Xbindkeys is not working

Spread the love

xbindkeys version:1.8.6; Ubuntu version 18.04 LTS
In the config file of the xbindkeys I have the following command
“xte ‘key a'”

but when I run xbindkeys in the terminal, and press control +o, nothing happens.
Pressing control + o makes the terminal cursor turn into a black one as if it detected pressing the keys. But ‘a’ is not printed. The same thing happens for every keyboard input that is set in the config file(xbindkeys kind of receives the input but is not able to do anything)
Been struggling to fix for a while now but I don’t seem to get anywhere. Xbindkeys used to work as intended before. Any help please?
